Pierogi Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    10 potatoes, boiled and mashed
    1/2 lb. Cheddar cheese, grated or 1/4 lb. Velveeta
    1 1/2 sticks butter or margarine
    2 onions, finely diced
    9 lasagna noodles, cooked
Preparation
    Saute onions in butter until soft and brown.
    Cook and mash potatoes.
    Add cheese and beat with mixer.
    Add 1/2 of onion and butter and salt to taste.
    Generously butter 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.
    Place a layer of lasagna noodles (3 in each layer), a layer of potato mixture; repeat, ending with noodles.
    Pour remaining onions and butter over top.
    Cover with foil and bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to ??? minutes.
    Cut in squares and serve.
