Cherry Spice Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    3/4 c. butter
    3 eggs
    3 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    3/4 c. buttermilk
    1 heaping tsp. baking soda
    1 c. applesauce
    1 c. drained, chopped maraschino cherries
    1 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 325\u00b0.
    Grease and flour three round cake pans. Cream together the sugar and butter.
    Add the eggs and beat well. Sift together the flour, salt, cinnamon, cloves and allspice.
    Mix the buttermilk and baking soda.
    Alternately add the dry mixture and the buttermilk mixture to the creamed mixture.
    Mix well.
    Fold in the applesauce, cherries and pecans.
    Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake 35 to 40 minutes, or until done.
    Cool before frosting.
