Ingredients

3 c. milk
3 egg yolks
3/4 c. sugar
6 Tbsp. all-purpose flour or 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
3 egg whites
1/4 c. sugar
1 box vanilla wafers
6 ripe bananas
Preparation

Mix sugar and flour well to remove any lumps.
Stir in milk and beaten egg yolks.
Cook pudding over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
Add vanilla flavoring.
Layer pudding, wafers and bananas, making two layers.
End with the pudding.
Beat egg whites until stiff.
Add 1/4 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon at a time until stiff but not dry.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla.
Pour meringue over pudding, spreading to edge.
Bake at 450\u00b0 until meringue is golden brown.
