Welsh Dessert Cakes - cooking recipe

2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
8 Tbsp. margarine
3/4 c. raisins
3/4 c. chopped walnuts
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla extract
confectioners sugar (optional)
nutmeg to taste
Preparation

Sift flour, sugar, salt and baking powder into a large bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Mix in raisins, walnuts and nutmeg.
Stir in eggs and vanilla until well blended (mixture will be dry).
Turn out onto a lightly floured board and pat to a 1/4-inch thickness.
With a floured cutter, cut into 2-inch rounds.
