Ingredients

1 c. butter
1 egg
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 1/2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream together the butter and sugar.
Add egg and vanilla. Stir in dry ingredients; mix well.
Chill dough.
Roll out quite thin; cut into shapes.
Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 10 to 15 minutes, until light golden brown.
Decorate with frosting, jimmies, sugar or whatever you desire.
