Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1 c. sour cream
4 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
5 1/2 c. plain flour
Preparation

Cream sugar and butter well.
Stir in eggs and sour cream. Add the dry ingredients which have been sifted together and vanilla.
Mix well.
Chill several hours.
May be dropped or rolled and cut 1/4-inch thick.
Sprinkle with sugar or cinnamon sugar.
Top with nuts or raisins (optional).
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes at 350\u00b0.
Makes about 60 cookies.
