Raisin Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. raisins
    1 1/2 c. water or rum
    1 c. sugar
    3 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    4 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. allspice
Preparation
    Plump raisins by soaking in water or rum, slightly heated for about 5 minutes.
    Drain and save 1 cup liquid.
    Sift dry ingredients.
    Cream sugar and shortening.
    Add eggs and vanilla. Add 1 cup raisin water and dry ingredients alternately.
    Add raisins and nuts, if desired.
    Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for approximately 12 to 15 minutes.
