Date Bread - cooking recipe

2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. oil
1 egg
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. sour milk
1 c. chopped dates
Preparation

Blend sugar and oil, then add egg and beat until smooth.
Sift the flour with dry ingredients.
Add to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk.
Fold in the dates.
Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 9-inch pan.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
When top springs back when pressed with finger, remove from oven and sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar with 1 tablespoon cinnamon.
Serve hot.
