Texas Pralines - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. broken pecans
Preparation
    Line a\tlarge
    cookie sheet with waxed paper.
    In heavy saucepan combine sugar, buttermilk, butter and soda.
    Stirring constantly, cook
    on
    low
    heat
    until
    mixture boils, about 5 minutes.
    Stirring\toften,\tcontinue cooking until candy thermometer reaches
    238\u00b0
    or
    a
    small of mixture dropped in cold water forms
    a
    ball.
    Remove
    from heat; cool 2 minutes.
    Add vanilla and
    pecans.
    Beat until mixture begins to lose gloss. Drop by spoonful on prepared cookie sheet.
