Mrs. Bowden'S Peach Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sliced peaches
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    3/4 c. flour
    pinch of salt
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 c. milk
    1/4 tsp. almond extract
    1 stick butter
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Slice peaches and mix with 3/4 cup sugar.
    Let stand 2 hours.
    Sift flour, salt and baking powder together; mix with 1 cup of sugar.
    Stir in milk and add almond extract.
    Melt the butter in a deep baking dish and pour the batter over it.
    Do not stir.
    Pour the peaches over the top of the batter to form a layer.
    Bake in a moderate (350\u00b0) oven for 50 to 55 minutes.
    If you use a glass baking dish, bake at 325\u00b0. Check it, as you do not want the juices to caramelize.
