Deerfield Marlborough Pie(By: Harriet Beecher Stowe) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. tart applesauce
    3 Tbsp. butter
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 tsp. grated lemon rind
    4 eggs
    1 (9-inch) unbaked pie shell
Preparation
    Stir butter into hot applesauce.
    Add sugar and salt.
    Cool. Add lemon juice and rind to eggs slightly beaten.
    Stir into sauce.
    Blend well and pour into pie shell.
    Bake at 450\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
    Reduce heat to 275\u00b0 and bake for another hour.
    Pie should be golden brown.
