Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening, softened
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. molasses
1 egg
1 Tbsp. vinegar
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. (8 oz.) ginger
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
Preparation

Mix shortening and sugar and add molasses; beat in egg and add vinegar.
Mix well.
Add flour and all spices; blend thoroughly. Refrigerate overnight.
Roll out 1/4-inch thick.
Cut out cookies. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 6 to 8 minutes; do not overbake.
