Hawaiian Style Shoyu Chicken - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 piece fresh ginger root
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 clove fresh garlic
    2 c. soy sauce
    1 c. water
    1 Tbsp. sherry wine
    1 family pack chicken
    chopped scallions for garnish
Preparation
    Combine first 6 ingredients in bowl.
    Brown chicken, drain fat. Add ingredients from bowl to pot.
    Let it simmer for 1 hour until chicken is tender.
    Place chicken on platter, garnish with scallions.
