Mom'S Mincemeat - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 lb. lean beef or veal, chopped
4 lb. apples
2 1/2 lb. raisins
4 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. molasses
1 1/2 lb. currants
1/2 lb. ground suet
1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. mace
2 tsp. salt
apple cider (about 3/4 gal.)
Preparation

Pare, core and chop apples.
Combine with remaining ingredients.
Add cider to moisten (about 3/4 gallon).
Simmer until meats and fruits are tender and flavors are blended.
If desired, any other fruit juice may be substituted (cider is best). Pack in freshly sterilized jars and process in canner to seal. May freeze in Ziploc bags.
Bake pie at 375-425\u00b0 for about 25 minutes.
