Ingredients

1 (9-inch) pie crust, baked and cooled
6 c. fresh strawberries, washed and hulled (about 1 1/2 qt.)
1 c. sugar
3 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 c. water
Preparation

Mash enough berries to measure 1 cup.
Blend sugar and cornstarch in saucepan.
Stir in water and crushed berries.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils.
Boil and stir 1 minute.
Add a few drops of red food coloring, if desired.
Cool.
