Tomato Soup Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 egg, well beaten
    1 can tomato soup
    1 3/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 tsp. ground cloves
    1 c. raisins or dates, finely chopped
Preparation
    Cream sugar, shortening and egg.
    Add soup and blend well. Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture.
    Reserve 1/2 cup dry ingredients in which to roll raisins or dates for easier mixing with the batter.
    Add vanilla; pour into well greased 10 x 6 1/2 x 2-inch pan.
    Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 45 minutes.
    Frost with cream cheese icing, sour cream or whipped cream.
