Cinnamon Pickle Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    approximately 1/2 bushel cucumbers
    2 c. lime
    8 1/2 qt. water
    1 c. vinegar
    1 small bottle red food coloring
    1 tsp. powdered alum
    8 sticks cinnamon
    2 c. vinegar
    2 c. water
    10 c. sugar
    2 pkg. cinnamon red hots
    cloves
Preparation
    Peel and sliced cucumbers 1/3 to 1/2 inch thick.
    Remove seeds (leaving round hole; I use an apple core knife).
    Makes 2 gallons. Soak 24 hours in lime and 8 1/2 quarts water.
    Drain and wash. Soak in cool water for 3 hours.
    Drain well!
