Layered Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels (50)
    2/3 c. evaporated milk or whole milk, divided
    1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
    3/4 c. butter or margarine, softened
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease and flour a 13 x 9-inch pan. Combine caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk.
    Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until melted.
    Combine remaining ingredients except chocolate chips in a large bowl.
    Mix by hand until dough holds together.
    Press 1/2 of the dough into pan, reserving the rest for topping.
    Bake dough 6 minutes.
    Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked crust.
    Spread caramel mixture over chocolate chips. Sprinkle remaining dough on top.
    Bake 15 to 20 minutes.
