Ingredients

1 3/4 c. margarine
2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. Lyles golden or dark Karo syrup
4 2/3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. baking powder
almonds, blanched
Preparation

Beat margarine and sugar until white.
Add eggs and syrup and blend well.
Sift in flour, spices and baking powder.
Roll into balls the size of walnut.
Place on greased cookie sheet and press a blanched almond into each cookie.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
Makes 8 dozen.
