Black Walnut Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 sticks butter
2 c. sugar
5 eggs
3 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 (4 oz.) can black walnuts
small amount milk
1 tsp. soda
1 small bottle maraschino cherries
juice from cherries and enough buttermilk to make 1 c.
2 tsp. walnut flavoring
2 boxes confectioners sugar
Preparation

Cream butter; add sugar.
Add eggs one at a time.
Sift flour, cream of tartar and soda.
Alternate, adding flour and buttermilk mixture to butter mixture.
Add 1 teaspoon flavoring, nuts and cherries.
Bake at 350\u00b0 in 3 (9-inch) pans for 25 minutes.
