Cherry Chiffon Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 can cherries
    2/3 c. sugar
    dash of salt
    1 envelope gelatin
    1/4 c. water
    2 drops almond flavor
    3 egg whites
    1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/2 c. whipped cream
Preparation
    Drain cherries.
    Heat sugar in 1/2 cup juice and cool.
    Mix gelatin in water.
    Add gelatin, flavoring and cherries.
    Add egg whites that have been beaten stiff with cream of tartar.
    Add whipped cream and pour into 9-inch baked pie crust.
