Hot Water Cabbage Slaw - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large cabbage (2 lb. approximately), shredded
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 small green pepper, sliced fine
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 c. boiling water
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. white vinegar
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
Preparation
    Combine cabbage, onion and green pepper in a large bowl. Sprinkle salt over top.
    Pour boiling water over and let stand at room temperature for 1 hour.
    Then drain cabbage well.
    Stir sugar and vinegar until dissolved.
    Add celery seed.
    You can add coarsely grated carrots, if desired.
