English Toffee - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. butter
    3 Tbsp. water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 (7/8 oz.) Hershey bars or 1 (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
    3/4 c. finely chopped pecans
Preparation
    Combine sugar, butter and water in heavy large pan.
    Cook to 300\u00b0 or hard-crack stage, stirring constantly.
    Add vanilla and pour into buttered 9 x 9-inch pan.
    Lay chocolate candy on top and spread as it melts.
    Sprinkle on pecans, cool.
    Break into small pieces.
