Bagels - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 packets active dry yeast
1/2 c. warm water
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
1/2 c. sugar
5 c. flour, sifted
1 egg
1 c. water
1 1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Prepare dough; dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water and add 1 1/2 teaspoons of sugar.
Set aside.
Sift the flour into a large bowl.
Make well in center of flour and add dissolved yeast mixture.
Add 1/2 cup of sugar, egg, 1 cup water, oil and salt. Mix with a large spoon, adding flour as needed until no longer sticky.
Use hands to mix dough into a ball.
Place in greased dish.
Set in warm place and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 1/2 hours).
