Ingredients

4 c. flour
1 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
1 3/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. water
2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
1 egg
Preparation

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar and salt with pastry blender or 2 knives used scissor-fashion, cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Combine water, vinegar and egg and beat with fork.
Pour into flour mixture.
Mix well until pastry holds together (dough will be sticky).
Cover and chill at least 2 hours.
Divide dough into 4 or 5 balls.
Wrap tightly and refrigerate up to 2 hours.
May be put in jar; will keep for a long time.
