Applesauce Fruitcake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 1/3 c. drained applesauce
1 c. shortening
4 eggs, well beaten
1 c. whole wheat flour
4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. nuts, broken
3 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. mace
6 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. nutmeg
2/3 c. molasses
2 c. brown sugar
4 c. white flour
1 3/4 tsp. salt
2 lb. raisins
1/4 lb. citron, thinly sliced
Preparation

Cream sugar and shortening.
Add applesauce, molasses, eggs and lemon juice.
Sift flour with baking soda, salt and spices. Dredge raisins in flour.
Add flour slowly to batter.
Beat.
Add raisins, citron and nuts.
Gumdrops optional.
Bake at 300\u00b0 to 325\u00b0 for 2 hours.
