Corn Fritters - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/3 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 egg
    1/3 c. milk
    1 Tbsp. melted shortening
    2 c. whole kernel corn, drained
    maple syrup
    powdered sugar
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients in a large bowl.
    After they are well mixed, drop by tablespoon into hot oil.
    Using a slotted large spoon, move fritters around in hot oil until they are golden. Remove to paper towels to drain.
    Sprinkle with maple syrup and/or powdered sugar.
