Peppernuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. granulated sugar
    1 c. shortening
    3 eggs
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. lemon extract
    3 1/2 c. flour
Preparation
    Move
    lower
    rack in oven up 1 notch.
    Beat eggs, sugar and shortening\tuntil
    fluffy.\tAdd
    milk and dry ingredients alternately.
    Drop\tby
    teaspoonfuls on cookie sheets and bake in 450\u00b0 about 8 minutes or until slightly brown on top.
