Old Fashioned Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. shortening
    1/4 c. cold water
Preparation
    Cut shortening into flour which has been sifted with salt. Add water to flour, beat egg and work into mixture.
    Knead lightly and roll on floured board.
    Cut into 1-inch squares and drop into boiling chicken broth.
