Ingredients

6 Tbsp. cocoa
1 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. cold milk
4 egg yolks, slightly beaten
4 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 baked 9-inch pie shell
4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
8 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation

Add cocoa to sugar and mix well.
Stir in 2 cups milk to make a smooth mixture and heat in top of a double boiler.
Beat egg yolks; add flour, blended with remaining 1/2 cup milk.
Add salt and stir into milk mixture.
Cook until thick, stirring constantly.
Add butter or margarine and vanilla.
Cool and pour into baked pastry shell.
Top with meringue made of the egg whites and 8 tablespoons sugar.
Bake at 350\u00b0 until meringue is lightly browned.
Yield: One 9-inch pie.
