German Potato Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. bacon
    5 lb. red salad potatoes
    6 green onions
    1 1/4 c. water
    1 1/4 c. vinegar
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    4 Tbsp. cornstarch
Preparation
    Cook, cool, peel and slice potatoes.
    Fry bacon and crumble. Put over potatoes with 5 tablespoons bacon grease.
    Add sliced green onions.
    Into pan, put water, sugar and vinegar.
    Bring to a boil.
    Thicken with cornstarch and a little water.
    Pour mixture over potatoes.
    Set aside for 2 hours to enhance flavor.
    You may slice hard-boiled eggs on top, if you wish.
