Butterscotch Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1 c. light brown sugar, packed
    1 egg
    3/4 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. chopped walnuts
    1 tsp. baking powder
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Melt shortening over low heat; remove from heat.
    Blend in sugar.
    Cool.
    Stir in eggs.
    Measure flour by dip/level or by sifting.
    Blend flour, baking powder and salt; mix well in vanilla and walnuts.
    Spread in well-greased square 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.
    Cut into bars while still warm.
    Makes about 18 bars.
