Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg, well beaten
1 c. mashed ripe bananas (2 to 3)
1 3/4 c. rolled quick oats
1 pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces (or flaked coconut or pecans)
Preparation

Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon in a mixing bowl.
Cut in shortening.
Add egg, bananas, oats and chocolate pieces.
Beat until thoroughly blended.
Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake in a moderately hot 400\u00b0 oven about 15 minutes, or until cookies are done.
Remove from pan immediately.
Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
