Chocolate-Cherry Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar
    2 sq. baking chocolate, melted and cooled
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 egg, well beaten
    1/2 c. milk
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. pecans, cut in large pieces
    20 maraschino cherries, cut in thirds
Preparation
    Cream shortening; add sugar and cream well.
    Add eggs and beat well.
    Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with milk, beating well.
    Lastly, add cooled melted chocolate, nuts and cherries. Mix well.
    Drop by tablespoon on greased and floured cookie sheet. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
    Frost with chocolate frosting while still slightly warm.
    Makes 20 cakes.
