Holiday Fruit Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. shortening
    2 1/4 c. brown and white sugar (half and half)
    5 eggs
    4 3/4 or 5 c. sifted flour
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. almond extract
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    2/3 c. candied fruit
    2 c. white raisins
    2 c. dates
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Mix well and
    place in covered container, in refrigerator. Bake as needed.
    Drop
    by
    teaspoonful
    and bake at 350\u00b0 until brown.
    You may
    add
    coconut, if desired.\tThis makes a huge batch and will
    be\tgood
    in
    the refrigerator as long as needed.
