Ingredients

1 c. Crisco shortening
2 c. sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1/4 c. milk
4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
10 oz. box currants
Preparation

Cream shortening.
Add sugar and cream together well.
Add beaten eggs and milk.
Sift dry ingredients and add to the mixture.
Stir in currants.
Roll dough on lightly floured board to a 1/4 inch thickness.
Cut with a round cookie cutter.
Bake on an ungreased griddle over low flame or on electric griddle heated to 350\u00b0.
Turn cookie when it is golden brown, but only turn once.
