Tomato Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. cubed beef
    2 Tbsp. flour
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 can tomato soup
    1 soup can water
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    6 onions
    6 carrots, halved
    3 potatoes, quartered
    1/4 tsp. thyme
Preparation
    Roll meat in flour; brown in shortening in a large heavy pan. Add soup and water; cover.
    Simmer 1/2 hour; stir now and then. Add remaining ingredients.
    Cover and cook until the vegetables are tender, about 1 hour.
