Cherries In Snow - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. water
    1 1/2 c. rice, salted
    3 c. milk
    1 Tbsp. oleo
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 envelope plain gelatin
    1/3 c. milk
    1 Tbsp. almond extract
    1 c. whipped cream
    cherry pie filling
Preparation
    Cook water and rice, covered, for 15 minutes over medium heat. Add 3 cups milk, oleo and sugar.
    Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until thick.
    Soften gelatin in 1/3 cup milk and add to rice.
    Cook 3 minutes longer.
    Remove and add almond extract. Cool.
    Fold in whipped cream.
    Chill and spread cherry pie filling over the top.
