Cherry Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 c. sifted flour
    1 1/3 c. sugar
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/4 c. cherry juice
    16 maraschino cherries, cut
    1/2 c. milk
    2 eggs
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Sift together first four ingredients.
    Add next four ingredients and beat two minutes.
    Add eggs. Beat two more minutes.
    Fold in nuts.
    Bake 30 to 35 minutes at 350\u00b0 in two 9-inch layer pans.
