Sopaipillas - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    1 Tbsp. sugar, divided
    1 1/2 c. warm water
    1 Tbsp. shortening, melted
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    4 c. all-purpose flour, divided
    vegetable oil
    honey
Preparation
    Dissolve yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar in warm water in a large bowl, stirring well.
    Let stand 5 minutes until bubbly.
    Add remaining sugar, shortening, baking powder, salt and 2 cups flour. Beat at low speed of electric mixer until smooth.
    Stir in remaining flour to make a soft dough.
    Place dough in a greased bowl, turning to grease top.
    Cover; let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until doubled in size.
    Punch down dough; turn onto a lightly floured surface.
