Mary Seward'S Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. flour
    1/2 c. cocoa
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    2 eggs
    1 c. cooking oil
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 c. hot water
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Mix dry ingredients.
    Add oil and eggs; mix.
    Add buttermilk, hot water and vanilla.
    Mixture will be very thin.
    Bake in a 9 x 13-inch pan or two 9-inch layers (after greasing and flouring lightly) in a 350\u00b0 oven until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the middle, approximately 40 minutes for the 9 x 13-inch pan.
