Ingredients

1/4 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. grated orange rind
1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. coconut
1 c. chopped dates
Preparation

Melt butter in saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in brown sugar. Blend in egg, vanilla and orange rind. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together. Add to first mixture and blend well. Add dates and coconut. Bake in a 8 x 8-inch pan at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes. Cut into squares when cool.
