White Buttermilk Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. granulated sugar
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. buttermilk with 1 tsp. soda dissolved
    whites of 5 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Beat sugar and shortening.
    Combine flour, baking powder and salt.
    Add alternately with buttermilk.
    Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Add vanilla.
    Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 35 to 40 minutes in long pan, 30 minutes in layer pans.
