English Toffee Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 sticks margarine
    1 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. dark Karo syrup
    3 Tbsp. water
    1 1/2 c. coarsely chopped almonds or pecans, divided
    6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate bits
    2 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted
Preparation
    Melt
    butter in 2-quart
    pan.
    Gradually
    stir
    in
    the sugar. Add syrup and water.
    Cook
    to 290\u00b0 on candy thermometer.
    Add 1 cup nuts.
    Cook
    3
    minutes more.
    Pour candy onto greased cookie sheet and
    let cool.
    Melt chocolates together. Spread with 1/2 of melted
    chocolate
    mixture and top with 1/2 of remaining nuts. Cool
    until
    chocolate
    is set.
    Turn over and cover other side with remaining chocolate and nuts.
    Chill briefly and break into pieces.
