Caramel Pie(Makes 2 Pies) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar, divided
    5 eggs, separated
    2 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. flour or cornstarch
    butter or margarine
Preparation
    Mix 1 cup sugar with flour; add beaten egg yolks and milk. Blend thoroughly and bring mixture to a boil.
    Meanwhile, brown 1 cup sugar in iron skillet, stirring constantly, until melted.
    Add caramelized sugar, while hot, to hot milk mixture.
    Cook in double boiler or heavy pan until thick.
    Add about 3 tablespoons butter. Beat smooth and pour into 2 baked pie shells.
    Make meringue with egg whites; spread on pies and bake in oven until golden brown.
