El Dorado Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. deli style tortilla chips
    1 lb. ground beef
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1/8 tsp. garlic powder
    2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
    1 pt. sour cream or yogurt
    1 pt. cottage cheese (may use low-fat)
    1 c. diced chilies to taste
    1 Tbsp. oil
    1 pkg. grated Monterey Jack cheese
Preparation
    Brown ground beef, onion and garlic powder in oil.
    Add tomato sauce and simmer 10 minutes.
    Mix sour cream, cottage cheese and chilies.
    Line a greased casserole dish (9 x 13-inch) with chips. Add in layers of 1/2 meat mixture, 1/2 the cream mixture and 1/2 of cheese.
    Repeat layers of meat, sour cream and Monterey cheese. I reserve some crushed chips to sprinkle over top.
    This gives a crunchy top.
    Some prefer the plain, cheesy top.
