Onion Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    6 medium onions, sliced
    1 can cream of chicken soup
    1 c. milk
    3/4 lb. Swiss cheese, sliced or grated
    French bread, sliced 1-inch thick
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Melt butter in pan; add onion slices.
    Cook until tender, about 10 to 15 minutes.
    Put onions in 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Combine soup, milk, salt and pepper.
    Pour over onions and layer with cheese.
    Arrange bread slices on top; brush with butter, if desired.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
