Surprise Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2/3 c. butter or margarine
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 1/3 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla added to 1 c. water
3 eggs
2/3 c. sauerkraut, washed twice through water, drained and chopped
Preparation

Cream together butter or margarine and sugar.
Add eggs and beat well.
Sift together the dry ingredients.
Add the dry ingredients to creamed mixture, alternately with water and vanilla.
Beat well, then stir in sauerkraut.
Bake in two (8-inch) layer pans, or a 13 x 9 x 2-inch glass pan at 350\u00b0 for about 35 to 40 minutes.
Frost as desired.
