Ingredients

1/2 c. soft shortening (half butter)
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation

Mix shortening, peanut butter, sugar, brown sugar and egg. Sift together and stir in remaining ingredients.
Chill dough. Roll into balls the size of large walnuts.
Place 3 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet.
Flatten with fork dipped in flour, crisscross.
Bake until set, but not hard, at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
Makes about 3 dozen 2 1/2-inch cookies.
