Anise Toast(Italian Cookies) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 tsp. anise flavoring
    2 tsp. anise seed
    2 eggs
    2/3 c. sugar
    1 c. flour
Preparation
    Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Grease and flour a loaf pan, 9 x 5 x 3-inch.
    Beat eggs and sugar thoroughly.
    Add anise seed. Gradually mix in flour.
    Spread this stiff batter in prepared pan. Bake about 20 minutes or until toothpick stuck in center of loaf comes out clean.
    Pan will be only 1/4 full.
    Remove from pan and cut loaf into 16 (1/2-inch thick) slices.
    Place slices on buttered baking sheet; bake 5 minutes or until bottoms of slices are browned.
    Turn and bake 5 minutes more or until other sides are browned.
    Cool and serve with ice cream, fruit or cheese. Makes 16 to 18 slices.
